CHANGE IN SERUM PHOSPHORUS CONCENTRATIONS IN CARDIAC SURGERY PATIENTS OVER TIME

Perioperative phosphorus monitoring should be used to prevent the complications after cardiac surgery and, as a result, reduce length of intensive care and hospital stay. The purpose study was describe change in blood concentrations open heart cardiopulmonary bypass patients over time. Material methods. A prospective non-randomized cohort performed. assessed 45 adult admitted Cardiac Surgery Department for an surgery. All gave venous samples at following sampling time points: 1 – before surgery; 2 24 hours start surgery, 3 4 48 72 hours, respectively. Phosphorus were assayed by photometry clinical biochemistry laboratory. Results. phase observed during postoperative period vs. preoperative period. Blood levels showed statistically significant increase baseline 0,193, 0,2 0,34 mmol/L 24-, 48- 72-hours post-surgery, In 33.3% patients, hypophosphataemia less than 0,8 seen hours. with without creatine phosphate administration studied. Intraoperative therapy did not affect levels. Conclusions. cardiosurgical interventions using bypass, it is necessary control content serum if hypophosphatemia develops, perform introduction phosphates.
